At one point in my life, I found myself buying a headphone splitter, convinced that it would save my disintegrating relationship. It didn’t, but it did make recording Dreamboat in my bedroom a lot easier. “Potions” is about the inability of magical thinking to restore your previous life. And I knew I had to release this song sooner rather than later because it wouldn’t make any sense for Bluetooth headphones.
